The 73 meters high stone tower dominates the southern area of Delhi and visible for several kilometers. The construction of five storied tower was begun in 1193 AD by Qutab-ud-din Aibak.

There is a TV camera installed on the top most floor shows the Delhi view. Plans are afoot to reopen the various storeys to the public.
