New Delhi: Asian Guest House: "Loved the Asian Guest House"
cowboymi, Clio, Michigan Mar 26, 2007
It was my pleasure to stay at the Asian Guest House located at 14, Scindia House in New Delhi. (Scindia House is a building which fills an entire block.) I stayed for five weeks beginning January 14, 2007. The room I had was clean, average in size, and had a private western toilet and a shower with warm water. My room was on the front of the building and there was traffic noise (Indians like to use their horns when driving) and was a bit noisy. However, on the second or third day, it was almost like a symphony in the background, and I got in wonderful afternoon naps (I am 70 years old) each day there and slept very well at night. Beyond all of this the best feature of the Asian Guest House is the owner and all of the employees. As an illustration, I needed to go to the bank across the street. One of the guys went with me (they volunteered) to show me how the underground crossing of the street was accessed. Time and time again they would ask if I needed anything. When I went to a new part of Delhi - the Bengali Market - as an example for the first time, since I was traveling alone and it was my first trip to India, they volunteered (without my asking) to get me an autorickshaw and bargain with the driver for me for that trip. Sometimes, on my first trip to a new place, they would even go with me if I wanted. (Try that at a 5* hotel - it isn't going to happen.) This is a budget Guest House. It is not a 5 star property. Truly I enjoyed the stay better there than I ever have at more upscale places. The difference being the attitude of the owner and employees. At the Asian Guest House they really take good care of you. You want something, and it is done NOW. Oh, my room had cable TV with a remote, a ceiling fan and air conditioning. It is located in an area known by locals as CP (Connaught Place). That area is comprised mostly of businesses, street sellers, banks, a few guest houses, restaurants, and easy access (20 feet away) to public transportation. I will be happy to answer any additional questions you may have about this property where I stayed for five weeks. I am going back in December for another five weeks there. I promise you this evaluation was written by me, it was unsolicited, and I have given you my impression of this property. I accepted no money or special consideration. In fact, at this moment as I write this, they are not aware of this Trip Advisor website. (I asked them when I was there.) I believe I have given an unbiased and accurate account of this property. For more information from my point of view as a former guest, please feel free to email me. cliodaryl@comcast.net Respectfullly submitted, Daryl in Clio, Michigan

Liked: Cleanliness and the staff.
Disliked: Once in a while, there would be a power outage (generators came on) and everything worked except for the elevator - then you had 64 steps to climb.
